Aha's & Musings: Cats and Deaths

I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain'd, I stand and look at them long and long, They do not sweat and whine about their condition, They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins, They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God, Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things. Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that liveth thousands of years ago, Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth. - Walt Whitman

Ma told me that my first pet was a dog named Brownie. Maybe I was too young when I had that dog that I don't have much memory of it except that he's brown (big surprise) and he died. I never had my own pet after Brownie. Probably why I never wanted having pets after him is because of the thought ingrained in my mind that they die too soon. And pet deaths are always, always heartbreaking. Even if it's just a pet in the movie. A neighbor's pet. A friend's pet. A pet you once patted on the street.

RIP, Miguel.
Tonight I pray that cats go to heaven, too.
